These terms cover your use of ndangered.com. When you buy from us, our terms of sale apply as well.
Who we are
ndangered.com is run by NDANGERED, a clothing brand based in the UK. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean NDANGERED.
Our legal name and geographic address, and any company or VAT number, are on our contact page. If you have a question about these terms, email enquiries@ndangered.com.
Using the site
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.
The site is free to use and is for personal use, not business use. You must not:
- try to get unauthorised access to the site or the systems it runs on
- introduce viruses or other harmful code, or attack the site in any other way
- use the site for anything unlawful
Attacking the site can be a criminal offence, and we may report it to the police.
If you join our mailing list, use your own email address. We add you as soon as you submit the form, without a confirmation email, so signing up someone else would send them emails they never asked for.
How we use your email address is set out in our privacy policy. What the site keeps in your browser is listed on our cookies page.
Who owns the content
The NDANGERED name, our designs and the text we wrote for this site belong to us. You can view the site, share links to it and print pages for your own use. Any other use of our name, designs or text needs our written permission first.
Some of what you see here belongs to other people. We use it under their licences and credit them on screen:
- The videos on the home page are cut from clips on Wikimedia Commons, used under Creative Commons licences.
- The species photos on the map come from iNaturalist. Each is shown with its photographer's credit, and many are licensed for non-commercial use only.
- The satellite imagery on the map comes from Esri.
- The sighting records on the map come through GBIF from the people and organisations who published them, each under its own licence.
We can't give you permission to reuse any of that. To reuse it, follow its licence or ask its owner.
The species information
The map shows where these animals have been recorded and roughly how many are thought to be left. It is general information, not scientific or professional advice.
Each population figure names its source and the year it refers to, with a link to the source. Most are estimates, and some are several years old. Numbers change as new surveys come out, so check the source before you rely on a figure.
The points on the map are historical sighting records from GBIF, the Global Biodiversity Information Facility. Each point marks a place where the animal was recorded in the past. We never show where any animal is now. The records come from datasets published by others and can contain errors.
Links to other sites
The site links to sites we don't run, such as GBIF and the sources of our population figures. We have no control over them and aren't responsible for their content or for how they handle your data. A link doesn't mean we endorse the site.
Donate buttons
The Donate buttons on the map open the donation pages of independent conservation organisations. We don't take, handle or pass on donations, and we aren't affiliated with those organisations. If you donate, you give directly to the organisation on its own terms, and any question about your donation goes to them.
Availability of the site
We don't promise that the site will always be available or free of errors or viruses. Use your own virus protection. We may suspend, change or withdraw any part of the site, for example to fix a problem.
Parts of the map load from other services, including Esri for the imagery and iNaturalist for the photos. If one of them is down, that part of the map may not load.
Our liability to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit or exclude. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
Otherwise, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if we both knew it might happen when you started using the site. We aren't responsible for loss that isn't foreseeable.
Because the site is for personal use, we aren't liable to you for business losses, such as lost profits or lost business opportunities.
Anything you buy from us is covered by our terms of sale. Your rights if an item is faulty are set out in our returns and refunds page.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when the law or the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows when we last changed them. The version here when you use the site is the one that applies.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings about them in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring them in the courts where you live.
If you live outside the UK, the law of your country may give you rights that these terms can't take away.
